Common Questions
A few things you may want to know before your Arkansas River rafting trip.
What’s the best trip for families?
Salida Valley is our mellowest option and starts at age 5. Bear Creek adds some splash and excitement for ages 6+, while Browns Canyon is our classic Class III trip for ages 7+.
Do I need rafting experience?
No experience is required for Salida Valley, Bear Creek, or Browns Canyon. Your guide will cover what you need to know before getting on the river.
Where do we meet?
Monumental Expeditions is located inside Chalk Creek Campground at 11430 County Road 197 in Nathrop, Colorado.
What should I bring?
Bring quick-dry clothing, sunscreen, water, and secure footwear. We provide the rafting equipment and additional river gear you need.
How early should we arrive?
Plan to arrive about 30 minutes before your scheduled trip so everyone has time to check in and get geared up.
Can we camp and raft?
Yes. Monumental is based directly at Chalk Creek Campground, making it easy to combine your rafting trip with a longer Arkansas River Valley stay.
